Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

If the layoffs didn’t happen on Friday are they gonna happen next Week?

I mean layoffs in a larger, organized manner, not “a few here, a few there” what we’re seeing almost every day. Has anybody heard any solid info . What could be the targets if such a wave happens? If layoffs don’t happen next week should we dismiss all recent rumors to be false.

OP Post ID: @YT82Vmh-jlm Received an email yesterday...

Are all companies this secretive about getting rid of people? Only those companies who have something serious to hide? Maybe? I know how you feel. Been there, done that, felt the stress and tension you are feeling. My AM in ATO tried to load me with the work of two people, or more, after the 3Q2018 surplus. I was moved into a title that I was qualified for, but was assigned administrative support duties for a completely different title which I was not qualified for. So, I pushed back.

Will I work 7 days a week as an exempt employee? NO! Am I willing to work around the clock until the job is complete? NO! Am I here for the money? NO! Just give me the amount of work that you believe I can complete in 8 hours a day. I’ve given this company just as much as I am going to. My 12 to 16 hour days are over and to what end? It has taken a toll on my friends, family life, and my health.

For your good measure just remember that what AT&T is doing IN THE DARK, eventually WILL COME TO LIGHT.

I work with someone in the ATO org and while his group was not impacted, he said other groups in the ATO are impacted. He didn't know which specific groups, do that is as precise as I can be right now.

Received an email yesterday saying staff reductions had occurred that impacted our org and that all employees that may be potentially affected had been notified. No numbers or areas given. Be sensitive but stay focused....hard to stay focused when you don’t know when the hammer is going to fall again with no warning and you are the ‘potentially affected employee’. Are all companies this secretive about getting rid of people? No warning when it is coming, no info on who was affected, no explanation of what business needs this reduction satisfied. Being a manager here means you are on edge all the time. At least bargained employees know that if they dodge the quarterly surplus announcement they have 3 months to relax.
