Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Something stinks in san diego

it is clear now that the union in san diego sold out PTs. they let us go by reverse seniority but allowed the direct tv installers to not be included in that list. direct tv should have the most people laid off, but they dont. some garages had zero layoffs in first list, but that changed when the union made their arrangement

the local union has breached their duty of fair representation

This is the ATT way!

Randall is the #6 highest paid CEO in the country.

No one sees anything wrong with this?

Friend of mine was surplussed last year in South Carolina. He got 6 months severance pay which he took as regular pay every 2 weeks to avoid the tax hit. He was informed that the CWA will be taking dues out for the 6 months even though he is gone and working at another company. A lawyer told him they will take the dues out unless he happens to pass away. CWA=GREED

It’s actually contractually correct that the company can pick by garage whom they want to cut by seniority. If your local got a agreement to go by seniority across the local of all garages with the exception of Dtv, which we know the company continues to treat different, it’s actually a win for you all.

Sounds like sour grapes to me of some people that realized they have low seniority.

District 9 informed the affected locals that the company agreed to 2 canvasses (volunteers to leave the business and relocation to the Bay Area) in an attempt to reduce the surplus number.

If you didn't want to leave the company and didn't relocate to the Bay area that was offered to you, you are SOL.

I can’t believe a big company like ATT in today’s day they are cutting people. My husband got hired in 2015. Almost 4 years being there. Worst news to hear. We have 3 small kids. It was our main source of income. He loved his job so much. Took pride working for them. The look on his face when he came home and told me today broke my heart. CEO makes 29 mil a year. Why does anyone need that much money !! The CEO lied about cutting jobs when trump gave them billions of dollars in tax cuts. All I can say is that this is truly life changing and completely unfair. I know this is life but it’s a really hard thing to go through.

First step, file a grievance, if your contract forbids the contracting of work out for your job title. It shouldn't be clear now - if it's valid, it should have been clear the moment the latest contract was reduced to print, and people could read it.

There should be no surprises. It pays to read the contract.

Looks like people hired in 2015 and later have been let go in San diego unless your seniority has dropped and ncs date has changed for disability. saving a few people that were hired in 2015

Heard their contract kept them safe for awhile but thought it was just for one year.
