Contracts in the Midwest are dropping like flys. Ivy Tech and now Wisconsin. Long time clients being lost to B & N. Maybe the WI RM should actually visit campuses and engage the administrations before the contracts are in jeopardy. Missing In Action RM let's long time Folett employees pay the price for their lack of engagement.

There may not be a severance. 1 week for every two years is what it was 5+ years ago (I think). However, people with long service to the company were driven out (forced to quit under threat of termination). If a long time employee lost their store, it was assumed they retired (no other position was offered). follett paid their legal team to aggressively fight any request for severance, if a package wasn't offered. Other long time employees were simply classified down into seasonal or part time status. They quit because they couldn't afford to forgo medical benefits. No severance for them.
follett is a terrible company.
Anyone know about the severance pkg. Twenty stores closing and no word from HR!!!
Who is "scooter"?
Could try cc the gvp, sometimes works, even though lately I’m not having good luck with that either.
But don’t forget to review staff!!! More important than the school wanting to reduce the size of the bookstore, no response from anyone, emailed twice about.
Hey! Does anyone know if 'smoke signals' are a viable way of contacting 'Scooter' when phone & email doesn't work?
Or what about carrier pigeon??
Asking for a friend...
Where is region 25?
So, how 'ethical' is it to install a couple of your old buddies in your new region at the expense of other, one would hope, more qualified candidates?
Nepotism alive and well in region 41!!
Which is the flagship store you speak of?
Wow!
All this in less than a year...way to go!!!
Seems all those warning posts from last year are proving to be correct.
I was an internal applicant that was overlooked! The new external new manager quit, they asked me to interim manage the store. I SAID NO!! And good-bye
Only a matter of time.
How ironic it would be if the 'Scooter' juniors were taken over by B&N.
"Scooter" juniors are already in place as SMs at the flagship store and Loyola. No favoritism here. Feel bad for the internals who applied and got passed over.
“Scooter” has had a huge turnover of managers. Doesn’t anyone notice? And now 2 contracts. One being an old contract. What’s next...the flagship store??
Well ‘scooter’ is still here after losing store managers & contracts. So who is really caring?
So...everyone needs to speak up?
Would anyone listen?
Do they even care, because surely the particular inadequacies in this "scooter" are not going unnoticed?
B&N Layoffs is all about the retail trade book division. Not the same as B&N Higher ed.
Just for fun, go to B&N layoffs, company doesn’t sound much better, upper management & HO non-supportive of store employees.
This is what happens when you trade in a high performance Ferrari for a Game Stop scooter. Doesn't make sense. Yet it happened and you can see the fall out. Accountability from GVP? Not going to happen unless everyone speaks up.
No wonder it’s happening, when upper management is too busy at some conference & tell school contacts they are too busy to respond or answer. Wonder if B&an management is any better.
Have they ever valued students? Even in the days of follett values and good leadership, the institution was considered the customer. The students were a captive market. That is what Amazon and other online retailers seized upon. follett has never recovered.
When follett took over a bookstore, any choice in buy back was gone. The student sold to follett or they took the book off campus to sell, for instance.
These stores are in Follett’s home office backyard. What does that say? This is not just the failure of an RM, but reflects a company that does not value employees, does not value College relationships and does not value students. The Triple Crown of poor company culture.
Someone isn't paying attention when clearly lacking RMs are letting their store staff down so badly.
What stores in wisconsin?
Congratulations to all who will find better working conditions under new management. For the support team in IL, these must be nervous times. If you're in the field, in a store, you may have to learn a new culture, but you are ridding yourself of a nasty albatross hanging from your neck.
Columbia college going with b&n
Based on the store directory posted on the Quad we have closed or are closing 60 locations since January 1st versus opening 14 new locations in the same timeframe.
Which contract & region?
