Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Come on open your eyes

Verizon has reorganized and laid off every year since the vodaphone merger when they took on to much debt. Then they proceeded to buy AOL and Yahoo for millions of dollars putting them in more debt but the board and CEOs continue to get paid millions upon millions of dollars a year even though they have failed but the the employees take the consequences. Does management work harder than other employees? Do they deserve millions more than other employees? Come on open your eyes.

Reorganizations, riffs, vsp decimated f/XO. VZ did not want the employees....just the network and wireless spectrum for 5G. All of the launch cities for 5G are former XO markets. Wow what a bill of goods was sold to the employees, all planned almost 5 years ago. Management knew, took the money and got out quickly. The employees has not found jobs, or jobs at low wages, and older employees may me er work again, keeping my fingers crossed for all that are left.

Buddy, hes not stating everyone should be paid millions of dollars and everything is the same. Hes saying can uppermanagment shown the smallest amount of respect toward their frontline employees, such as maybe providing lunch on black fridays, or making some effort for work life balance. Based on the lack of empathy on your response it makes one assume you do not work as frontlined employee who has watched their commission checks dropp from around $3k to $1.8k(before 40% tax) and watched your schedule transform into a meat grinder.

I remember reorganization’s and layoffs at GTE pre Verizon. I remember reading of layoffs and reorganization’s at many many companies that happened before I was born it’d almost like it is all leaders/consultants know how to do.

Painful. Stemming from Verizon, GTE, Bell Atlantic, and NYNEX.

Current VZ Executives should be held accountable.

Current innocent VZ employees have been pained.

Layoffs and reorganizations happen every year, sometimes multiples times a year. It's been happening at least since the Bell Atlantic-GTE "merger of equals” and the war stories from the wizened elderly say it's been an occurrence going on past living memory.

The executive pay in America vs employee wage is unacceptable. Verizon executives have invested wastefully billions of dollars, and been rewarded millions of dollars of parachute compensation as they exit the organization.

All at the expense of the employee's health and financial stability.

This isn't some hippy talking, but a capitalist who realizes because quality employment in America is hard to find, all corporations are taking advantage of. That isn't capitalism but a systematic skewing of the system. It is like playing monopoly, and the rules be different for each player.

News for you OP, Verizon is not a hippie commune in Nova Scotia but a Fortune 500 company listed on the NYSE.
