My manager was hinting that a notice of surplus will be announced tomorrow for us Premise Technicians. Is there any one else that had heard similar?

Strike time in the SE.
How is the cwa explaining away the fact that this is not one of the acceptable surplus days, we are not at the end or the beginning of a quarter.
Funny a simple question only asking if any other prems heard and bingo......slide in your comments...subpar...temp workers you are. Pretty sure your attitudes towards us prem techs are similar to your attitudes towards contractors. Why always try to stick a knife in?
Prem Tech were simply used to roll out U-Verse and the Unions welcomed the extra dues as their membership dwindled. Blame the Union for accepting only an "Appendix " to cover the PTs. How does anyone explain with a straight face that a PT gets 30% less per deim then Core. Who decided PTs were 30% less human then Core? Don't blame the Company blame Union heads who agreed to this...and the members who keep voting in the uneducated and unqualified Union leadership.
The important thing is I still have my job. Whew... missed that bullet!
This is sad, they might not be “core” but they’re our union brothers and they will not have the same opportunities that us old core guys had. Most are young just starting out and they jumped at the chance to get in, move up, and have a career. Bringing the prems/wire tech on a separate contract was strategic by the company and created division within our ranks, this core vs perm attitude has to go - you can thank CWA for agree to this in the first place.
If anyone hired in as a prem tech and actually read appendix E you see that it was created to hire train and remove swiftly. So it wasn’t a “temp” job but what was baragianed sure was.
368 state wide today
Core vs Prem...Prem vs core. At the end of the day, we are all on the same sinking boat, with the same rats running around trying to save themselves..
Prem Tech was not created to be a temporary position. You people just keep repeating what you heard someone else repeat. If any of you core contract people wonder why we as prem/wire techs have a issue with you guys it because you keep beating that same stupid line to death. Also Subpar? Look at other TV service providers and those techs make less. Some of us actually feel like we are making a decent living on this subpar temporary job. Man you egotistical people keep banging the same pot. Man you people are annoying. 13 years of service isn't a temporary.

A damn temporary job doesn’t last 10 f*n years, holes everywhere in core, who will get af*ed when they are placing dishes and crying about having to wear branded apparel, don’t forget you will be surplused into appendix F and have your wages frozen.
Good luck boys but Premtech was a temp job with subpar wages and benefits...if you are asking if they will layoff by seniority you know it's a dead end..sorry .
I got that same message too and im from that district 9. Are they going by seniority or just overall work performance?

The company has already told the union last year there’ll be a surplus every quarter. Your stewards should know this.
What no new fiber builds down there to keep busy?
Sounds like they’re coming for the rest. They were already hit hard right before Xmas 2017. Take your severance and gtfo.
No
😳😱😠
First Line told us last week that between 35 and 45 prems will be cut in both Fresno and Bakersfield CA.
He wasn't sure about the rest of California for this quarter, but did say SoCal was looking at up to 1000 cut in 3rd quarter.
Yes there will be layoffs. CWA was just notified.
