Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon Connect- Executives leaving

Three of the 7 Executive leaders are separating from the company, leaving the employees who remain to seriously question the future of this organization. How does Verizon Corp not see what an enormous mess this division has become. The group needs a major overhaul, starting at the very top! Verizon Connect is part of the wireline reporting structure, now under the Biz Group.

Hum was one of Marni's and many losers. Like Lowell, and most of the business development people, she never really undertood the underlying business or the market or the customers, so she had to 'change' it. What she did was fool the company into spending billions on bs and filling the ranks with SJWs and BS artists

Vz Connect is the group that provides the GPS tracking units for all of the fleet vehicles so they can catch all of you craft people goofing off :)

LOL at all of the expansion/remodeling at the Verizon 'centers of excellence' they were doing to accommodate this junk of a unit. I guess the ping pong table is headed to play it again sports.

I’d give this group 3-6 months before it’s fully folded into greater Verizon and it’s employees laid off. The “Leader” for this group already has his exit plan; he was promoted to lead Public Sector.

If you’re with Verizon Connect, leave now!! Your future is very limited and will end up unemployed in about 3-4 months. Lift your head up and see what’s happening.

I remember in the layoff slaughter of 2015, many sought refuge in Telematics as it was hip and cool and the future of Verizon. Glad to see that workee out well.

Has anything that Verizon has done succeeded besides wireline and wireless service? Wireline is now obsolete and wireless is a non growth commodity. Every other thing they have done is a failure. Its amazing the company still exists.

I wont shed any tears on any of the executives leaving but here is my take on vz connect and that whole debacle

Vz connect and telematics have been poor investments that showed limited growth and did not take off the way the company wanted. On the consumer side, the hum and its derivatives were "slammed" by the retail channel to unsuspecting customers usually as a bill rerate in which reps found savings by switching to a new plan, but instead of passing the savings to the customer, they changed the plan and included the hum in there. This is similar to what was done with mobile hotspots back in the 2012, 2013 time period.

On the business side, though we purchased and acquired a large part of the market via acquisitions of different companies, even with that law that required Electronic monitoring (ELD I believe) most companies had already implemented the tech for the mandate and were unlikely to switch from what they had. Even with the corporate lobbying to get this law on the books it backfired on vz as they did not see the growth they had wanted in VZ connect.

This is just another example how the corporate greed to grow revenues in new directions without foresight as to where our true competitive advantages are made us invest BILLIONS of dollars to break even and now when the proposed investment blew up in VZ's face it gets taken out of the employees that joined the circus.

Connect was a mess already... their “execs” were a joke, never seen such a bunch of amateurs before.

The guy in charge of strategy, but never produced a single strategy presentation (Skip), the guy in charge of protecting the Executives (I mean in charge of HR, Jorge), and the guy in charge of IT (John). All were Fleetmatics legacy .

Where have folks been hiding. Verizon connect has always been a mess. At one time Verizon was the leader in the automotive space with General Motors toyota Volvo Audi Mercedes bmw and Hyundai Verizon purchased Hughes telematics which later became Verizon connect. During this time we allowed our position as leaders since 1998 waste away. It is the decisions of our now gone leaders that robbed money with their salaries folks like Lowell Stratton and marni. Now we seem to realize the Verizon connect is a mess. It has been that way for many many years and now att controls the space along with other foreign operators. Our leadership allowed it to happen and we paid them enormous sLaries for losing market share. The entire company is a slowly sinking titanic so glad to be gone. Such a shame

Verizon connect is fleet management and telematics and such. Basically it’s something that doesn’t make any money. It’s a white elephant. Their big product was Hum, that and a lot of wasted salaries.
