Seems like a way which is very plausible. On the other hand, I haven't heard about any reorganizations on that scale. Is it possible that the leadership will make a decision to merge the departments that overleap, and who could grab the shorter stick of such a reorg, the WM employees or the ones from AT&T?

Yeah,the AT&T layoff department is going to merge with the WM layoff department. f---edaboudit!
At some point, Finance, HR, and Marketing will have to merge. There may still be some separation in Marketing, but the rest is a given.
