I know that AT&T is in a position in which things haven’t been going exactly good for It but I always thought it was just Corporate America and that things were no better at any other company. A friend of my works a Verizon and my brother- in- law works at T-mobile. They don’t speak about their company in a negative sense and they tell me that they are quite satisfied. Then I look at the things that I see at T and wonder have we really hit rock bottom.

No, but you the worst employee in the business.
So, I am NOT disgruntled. My dad retired from SBC. Raised 3 kids and afforded my mom to stay at home with us. I followed in his footsteps. I'm going to cut this short, but the AT&T of today is NOT Ma Bell of yesterday, nor should it be. What I will say is that I was surplused at the age of 50 with 23 years, last day on payroll March 29. Impeccable record, fabulous A&D's. Always. BUT I was grandfathered in to a pension. The last two years from 23 to 25 years would have nearly tripled it! So, is AT&T a great company to work for? I don't know, I have been stressed out every time there was going to be "right sizing" for the past 5 years or so. It was never me though until it WAS me. I still will never understand why they don't throw out a decent offer for those who have raised their families, kids out of school, and are making way more than I. We ALL know those who should have left 5 years ago but they still keep showing up. The only reason I can think is their pension and benefits have already topped out. Get rid of us and the cusp and help that balance sheet!!!
Worst is very subjective. Is a needle in the foot better than a need in the hands...it depends.
What we do know is that a once proud company that gave the people who did the work job security, good wages and benefits has become a horrible place to work.
This did not happen as a part of some inevitable process, this was a conscious business decision by the board and in the C-level bubble. It is all about maximizing short term profits at the expense of long term stability of the business.
The negative impact on the people who do the work in this company is a plus because Randy can now scour the work for low paid, poorly trained people to plug in the slots of US citizens discarded by the company like yesterday's fish.
I see the upper management trolls out in full force on this board...
Not everyone who is still employed is disgruntled. Many are beyond that point as they wait to see who is nex to be let go.

It depends on who you believe.
On one hand you can believe the propaganda that comes in via corporate broadcast email telling us how amazing we all are, what a respected company we are, etc. etc.
On the other, you're a bit more immersed in reality than our leadership is. You don't even tell folks you work for AT&T because of the tidal wave of anger and frustration that you'll catch for bad service, high costs, stupid customer service, etc. etc.
Short version: Those of us who don't drink the Kool Aid know the company isn't nearly as amazing as they like to think they are.
@YKz2URL-1thp It’s still a great company to work for! If you are hired on as a “manager” what kind of job security were you expecting in a corporate environment? Come in, do your job, take advantage of tuition reimbursement, climb the ladder or make lateral moves. AT&T is in debt reduction mode and will cut labor costs like any other company. They’ll hire again if they cut too deep.
Too many folks are focused on the old “at&t” yes they used to be a premier company to work for that could provide a great living for everyone, now they are focused on fattening the pockets of the corporate executives and the expense of the men and women that do the real work for pennies f--- randall send him packing he is making a mockery of a what use to be a great company

I don't think it's disgruntled losers. T/Maw Bell has provided a good living to many folks for many years. Outsiders are drawn to that image not knowing that many of us have no clue if our jobs will be there next quarter or next year. An evolving industry combined with what seems to be delirious decision making up top, along with the constant cloud of layoffs/outsourcing and the daily "you $uck" pep talks tends to beg the question that the OP asked.
Just remember, these disgruntled losers are a waste of space at AT&T. For every one of them there are several trying to get a job at AT&T.

Thank you for sharing Randall. We understand why you like the gig. You have 30 million reasons. But as your pay has increased we have been laid off and seen our health plan diminished in value. No job security and no leadership on your part and that of your sycophantic minions. Top heavy with useless executives, that's what AT&T is. And your buying spree has put the company in jeopardy. You are up for the Armstrong award. The thing is. We're on to you. We see you for the no talent loser you are. Imagine the hubris. You think you are worthy to run a tech company and you don't even have a STEM education let alone any talent. I'm tired of pretending that an MBA qualifies someone to run AT&T. Call me disgruntled. I don't care. That's just a cheap insult from a loser who couldn't run an ice cream stand let a lone a company that USED TO BE HIGH TECH.
AT&T I actually a great company to work for. You get paid vacation, healthcare, tuition reimbursement, matching 401K, and huge service discounts.

Corporate America’s main goal is to have as many employees as possible as temps and contractors. AT&T is no different. The next recession is going to be huge. All these jobs that analysts are talking about are mostly temp. The next recession is going to be huge!!
