Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Yeah, I’ve been hearing about cube sats for a while. If T did go that way, they’d have to sell off 75% of current holdings. Then they’d need the brain power of the experienced people they’ve dumped over the last couple of years. In short, Randall is setting up T for a yard sell, then the company will still tank because technology baffles him.

Hilarious. You say all this while DTV (a satellite communications service) is sinking under the helm of ATT ... literally. Best of luck with that.lol

According to a poster, all the state governments other than Cali have removed us from being the provider of last resort. A lot of our services have already migrated to wireless already with more to come as all of the carriers upgrade their systems.

It's all fine and dandy until 15,000 cube satellites in the sky fry our brains to mush with microwave radiation. At that point we'll either be to braindead or just plain dead to care if we still have a job at this c-appy place any more.

If you think the government will allow you to remove landlines and use cube sats you are crazy. Imagine what happens if those sats go offline. Imagine the security vulnerabilities.

AT&T does good to keep tip & ring going....our wireless service $ux...I would love to see how we are going to master satellites...

the real question att wants to know is if the cube satellites will run mcafee virus software because if they don't its a big no go.

yes I am sure they will do totally independent health testing that all these microwaves have on your health too. because you the government really cares about you more than the corporations.

When that becomes a reality - at least 7-10 years from now - today's layoffs will be like a "nice" memory. Many carriers will disappear totally.

There may be one or two "land wireless" providers left. Who would need them, when the signal from satellites would be ubiquitous ? Think of today's GPS signal, it is mostly omnipresent. When thousands of "cube sats" will be up there, there will be a signal pretty much every where on the planet. So ATT and other carriers will be outdated, most like the telegraph, or old land lines. Now, if "T" wold be smart, would start investing in this industry today. However, there is no risk in that having the glorious leadership of today. We bought dying satellites and an overpriced entertainment company.

There is no need to worry. All of the moves have been decided years in advance, like a general going to war. If you get laid off there is nobody you can beg to to stay. Don’t stress, but be prepared to pivot and move on to the next thing, it could be for the better.

I can read. So, I should fill my head with Cube Sats? and how much rent is Walmart paying me? But you are actually being paid by AT&T, that's not an expression. I think I can decide on my own if it's worth it. I can jump on a guy all I like, just like he is free to send out an unsolicited lecture.

AT&T is not paying you rent? Seems like they would be paying you if you work there. This makes as much sense as the guy who said "you owe AT&T nothing." Err.. you get a paycheck, you might owe them something in exchange.
