Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What happens when an office closes?

Are all the employees automatically laid off or do they offer relocation to some folks? If they do offer a relocation, what timeline do they give you to make a decision about that? Do the workers that get cut in the process of an office closure get any compensation outside the standard severance package?

1hql has it about right - i'm work at one of the first sites announced. it s---ed for the first bit, just because of not knowing, but things leveled out and people are finding other jobs, planning to ride out their packages and then go get new jobs, or wait for a package and then retire. yes, everyone's ability to put up with any added bull$hit is low, but that's to be expected regardless of where you work.

1xpu you’re a bit dramatic.

Yes, things get c-appy at the site for a bit. If you’re near another site that is hiring, you try to get a job. If not, most are waiting out their packages and half a$$ing their jobs because “why should I care!” Even though ultimately what we do in aero affects other people’s lives. There are other companies and other jobs - life doesn’t begin and end at Honeywell contrary to the popular belief on this site that their lives are ruined just by working here.

What Happens ?

General guidelines:

People lose hope

get depressed

don't sleep well, then work performance suffers

get PIPed

get highly stressed

work integrity on Mission CrItical AND EVEN LIFE CRITICAL programs is compromised on threat of job loss and performance intimidation

one works excess unpaid overtime to per EEI (formal forced unpaid overtime under threat)

to recover from PIP intimidation

and to cover for lack of support on understaffed programs,

where unqualified subcontractors are dumped on the program,

then work more unpaid hours, hoping that people won't die in cases of LOM LOC (LOSS OF MISSION / LOSS OF CREW)

home life fails, can't keep up

with home maintenance,

incurr HOA penalties for weeds in lawn and tree debris I. front yard,

miss kids school plays, pageants, science projects,

parent-teacher conferences

get behind paying bills, power shut off for a day

spouse runs up $40,000+ on hidden credit cards because she is lonely, and expects marriage to fail,

knows extant debt gets split with looser spouse working too much at the Honeysucker

then marriage fails

pay lawyer $50,000 at $400 an hour

become estranged from one's own children

while paying child support

and Spousal support

s---c-dal thoughts and alchoholism prevail

your results may vary

Enjoy your days at Honeywell !

Based on what's been done so far, it's all over the place. If most states weren't "right to work" I'd expect a sleazeball attorney to pursue a class action lawsuit for inconsistency in what's offered and not offered to employees.
