Now that they saw first hand that the outsourcing deal is, more or less, working who is going gto stop them from outsourcing some more. I just can’t understand who in their right mind wants to stay at a company where there is so much uncertainty? Even more, now that they saw that they can do it another buyout is probably out of the question

@2qrn if you were contracted by Verizon, never. If they no longer need you, they will end your contract, depending on the type T&M or SOW and term.
When will IT contractors be moved to Infosys?
@OP: has left the building??
@OP: do you still work for VZ?? what capacity?? SVP or EVP?? do you work in IT??
please don't post is you have no clue to the harsh realities the displaced IT folks have been put under duress.
there are several rebadged folks who are valuable and have merit as professionals. the rebadged are not a piece of garbage, characterized by heartless Shankar, and Vivek, who have contributed to the VZ bottom line -- below par VZ earnings reported yesterday morning.
rebadged and outsourcing is not going to resolve the issue to VZ's corporate revenue!!!!
worthless, are the uneducated sr. managers, foreigners, Asian-Indians, continue to be paid and are safe in their respective positions while the workers were rebadged.
who at VZ of any brains reads these posts??
@gdh: wrong. these executives will get a severance package and more enriched in contrast to the common severance packages.
@1nsf: you are wrong. executives were incompetent. Hans did not know what the a_s Shankar was doing. Shankar is stupid and again an a_s h_l_e who does not know what Shankar is doing and Vivek is no better.
@1utk: agreed. thank you for you post.
@YIKkGvz-1utk They were related in that they were separate initiatives to reduce Verizon headcount. The timing led to ESP being offered after a hue and a cry
First of all, the outsourcing and the buyout were not even remotely related. While the buyout was offered very widely, the outsourcing was limited to 2500 IT people and originally, they were not offered severance in lieu of. At that only, the 600 or so domestic employees who declined rebadging were given severance. International was out of luck. And whoever said it was working well is out of their ever loving mind. In my area, InfoSys isn't doing ANYTHING except spitting back documents of the information we've given them. The areas of IT that were outsourced will be a huge mess by July as InfoSys cannot (read: are not allowed to) perform ALL of the functions of the people they are replacing. My Infy guy was recently told by his boss that he had to report to the office. No working at home. And he doesn't have access to any non-masked environments. I don't understand a word he says, so I just agree with everything.
Will there ever be another buyout? Maybe, many years from now. Will there be more outsourcing? Definitely. And not just in IT. When they see how much they've saved (regardless of quality of work), they will start targeting all back office functions. Anything that needs no physical presence.
To the OP, if you are still employed at VZ, maybe you should be asking yourself if you are in your right mind. If you are not, why question others? Everyone has their own personal circumstances to think about. Before the rug was pulled out from under me, I was perfectly happy with my job. Just my two cents for what it's worth.
@YIKkGvz-iyf Yes but those are being swept under the rug with "secure workspace". Infosys is supposed to work on Verizon equipment at Verizon locations but there is no way to enforce. Its fund to see the Infosys people sending messages like "I am working from home" and doing prod support. The whole thing is a eyewash
@haj: always something new. no harm in voices being posted. glad to read.
@iyf: these managers and executives are under scrutiny and will be themselves displaced without a severance package. karma, karmas.
There have been issues, IT security, with the wave ending this past December. There were IT jobs that should not have been outsourced. Innocent folks got screwed because of hasty management and executive decisions.
Outsourcing success is a relative question?
Talk about beating a dead horse ! You had your buyout chance , now move on
Why are you stirring the pot again. This has been discussed to death already. Nothing new here
