"The big announcement today for some organizations was the official directive of ending tele-commute and forcing individuals to the collaboration zones."

This is designed to force folks to voluntarily leave or retire.

Many people telecommute for various reasons and once they are forced to endure the daily commute to a newly mandated downtown location ( which is a traffic nightmare on a good day, I would spend 2-3 hours a day in traffic reporting to a downtown location ) then try and work within the Open Office Concept ( insanity ) many people will start submitting their retirement paperwork.

Which, in my opinion, is the effective goal of the Company.

Not true as many posted they heard date was 4/22 for ATO and then later others posted it was going to be pushed out to June. I read this in multiple threads where folks were stating the 4/22 or 4/29 date but others indicated was being pushed out to June.

Not true! The software dev group in my building was decimated!

Luckily our group was spared again! That meant another long lunch of rib eyes, sweet potato, and sweet tea at the topless bar to celebrate!!

Knight organization in ATO got the "Project Collaboration" email. Basically said no telecommuting except in special situations and prepare to move to a larger collaboration location unless you are customer facing.

Direct quote: " We have carefully reviewed where each position will be most effective. For most customer facing roles, you will remain in the locations where you already best serve our customers. In non-customer facing roles, we are looking at consolidating some work locations across Wireless & Access Engineering, Construction and Operations (W&A ECO)."

The big announcement today for some organizations was the official directive of ending tele-commute and forcing individuals to the collaboration zones. So no it wasn’t an official surplus announcement but the goal of today’s announcement is to force attrition via forcing folks to move.....which effectively is a non-official surplus.

These is a lot of disinformation on this site by disgruntled ex-employees along with current employees who like to give the impression they have "inside" knowledge when in fact they're in a fantasy world. One out of ten topics are actually helpful so beware.

Layoffs are generally quarterly, mid March, June, Sept and Dec.

The only real news I see coming this week is AT&T reporting quarterly earnings. Their 10-Q will show employee headcount - can be compared to the previous quarters, which was reported on their annual 10-K.

I really think people post on here to get people upset, there was post last week where SVP in ATO at town hall stated he knew of no current Surplus event and was hopefull no more for 2019, well posters in here claimed to have first hand knowledge that was BS and got everyone all fired up about a 4/22 event, this board should be to help those surplussed and to provide REAL and FACTUAL information about upcoming events
