Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

based on 2019 budgets, how is there not a 30-40% reduction in headcount?

will they really allow people to sit around again waiting to do work? this is bizarre and why i cant stand being here waiting for the hammer to drop. just stuck in limbo, dont want to leave but knowing this cant go on.

yeah hard to believe that number of people would be surplussed by 2020, which is around the corner and there is no debate that capital investment excluding first net and 5 g hardware is non existent. people aren't during much. i dont know how they can justify the resource headcount with the work happening right now...but dont leave this place is a joke. just get paid

Agree. If that 30-40% number is alluding to the 2020 number I would assume that the pretty significant numbers we have lost for the past few years are already included. Unless there are plans to sell off significant portions of the business no way they drop 60-80 thousand people this year.

30-40% reduction in headcount? In the next 8 months? Consider everything that would entail on the backend- the wheels on the bus do not move that fast.

if there is no work, then be proactive, and do something about it. Find some online training, brush-up your resume, look for other positions on careerpath, get your resume online, etc. ATT is not the govt, they are not responsible for taking care of you. If you are in a dead-end job, be proactive, and do something about it.

It's only Q2.

Wait for it...
