Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I can see it in people's faces and demeanors

Good people who were extremely valuable and producing have been reduced to simply not caring in this environment and why should they if they have been reduced to a line and column on a spreadsheet. Total failure of executives to know the temperature of the room and adjust in a strategic manner. I guess that is what happens managing quarter to quarter and trying to overcome over $150 Billion in Strategic Disasters.

The bloodbath of layoffs basically wiped out entire teams of people who maintained entire networks within the company. Since their departure, no one is picking up the pieces. Requests for service come in and there is no one left who even KNOWS that network well enough to work said request. They just pile up in the inbox. Entire projects are now in limbo because the teams who were running them are now gone and upper management ( 3+ ) is absolutely clueless about the damage that has been done.

I agree with the observations. The top performers have stopped going above and beyond. The company finally went too far. I've seen poor attempts to help restore some morale recently, but they just made the situation worse.

This statement below is so true as I see it daily. I was just having a conversation with a colleague last week as a lot of folks these days have a defeatist attitude and just don't care like they use to....I was trying to get folks to join a very important call after 5:00PM for an issue....Even those I could always count on apologized but would not join as said they had to leave...... Lot of large companies are changing their business plans due to technology, customer wants, competition, etc. Verizon is jettisoning a lot of people. Look at the auto industry. However it does seem to cause more strife in the older unionized companies who have had the opportunity to work at places in which the social contract has been guaranteed employment. Even Google decided to basically shut down the Google Fiber initiative that they started with so much fan fare.

yeah they don't care. not a place you want to retire from. lots of other better businesses out there that have a better plan and treat their people like humans. T is just to big and they have the government in their pocket so they think they can do anything they want.

And what a perfect time for the “employee survey” .... I basically said your same sentiments in my response with feedback. Oh and I know ... there will be no change, but it felt good no matter what.

Same leadership for TMobile Blunder, Direct TV Blunder, and if I was a betting man Time Warner will be another Blunder. When talent is fleeing in droves and you drive off the guy behind some of the greatest programs in the history of Television you have a massive problem. Plepler should have been kept at all costs but Stankey and his Town Hall sent him and countless others fleeing. Produce more of less quality and it will be like child birth for the coming years. Talk about a gut punch and de-motivation.
