Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

First quarter results

In the next week or so we should get those numbers. I would suggest that people actually open up the BU results to get a feel for how the company is doing in your specific areas. Too many just read the rosy email that RS puts out. Will admit it takes a little digging since they split out numbers into separate BU results. What are the landline losses? Since they are no longer emphasizing Uverse, what is the affect? Look at the yoy numbers. 2-300,000 losses in landline services this quarter means we are still on a path of another million loss year. Have heard people upset about the continued job losses because the email is so positive. (If they actually read it). Extrapolate it out. Landline voice losses, Uverse losses, etc affects Core techs, DEG techs, CO techs and all the groups that support them, including Mgmt.

According to Baron's, the projected DTV customer loss is in the neighborhood of 400k. If this is true, that's approx. 220k more than 2018 q4. Doesn't sound like good news to me. Of course creative accounting will spin this to appear positive.

Good news. However the BU’s are starting to be run more and more as independent companies with their own distinct lines of business. For all intents and purposes AT&T is now the name of a holding company with very large companies under its umbrella. The Mexican company doing well doesn’t mean that Donovan doesn’t have to make his company meet its targets.

First QTR should be fine. This one will be skewed since it's the real first QTR with Warner Media results included, so revenues will be up. Depending on how they slice up the company, result by BU could be hard to decipher. There will be expected losses of some landline services, broadband subs will be up, wireless subs should be up, some expected losses in Directv and Now. Overall the big numbers us shareholders look at will be OK.

Might be because Verizon dropped a lot of its landline services. They are more dependent on the wireless cash cow as far as revenue per employee. Not quite a apples to apples comparison.

Read the Yahoo - Financial Statements tab for T. It will show the net income and you can compare to the previous period. They want more.

Verizon is earning about $104,000 per employee while T earns about $73,000. Why the lower amount? That's what they are addressing.
