Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Are silent layoffs taking place?

Two of my colleagues have been shown the door yesterday, good performers, Also I heard from a friend of mine that works in a different location that there have been similar layoffs there as well. Are silent layoffs on an organized scale taking place or is that just a weird coincidence?

@2agk From a management/staff perspective, we are one company. Departments have been blended for years. But when it comes to the associate population, wireless and wireline are very different. Wireline associates are union represented and have a very different culture than wireless associates, who, for the most part (not all) are non-represented. Think outside plant vs. sales.

@2agk : guess you weren’t around during the last strike when wireless thought their party would never end and they were the sh-- ! Well , the party for them is over . At least we have some union protection .

Dumbest comments about wireline and wireless being separate. I have been working in organizations for the past few years where we have meshed together equally on teams and orgs.

The newest 2.0 Verison must have agile worker. The agile worker comes with the H1B and works for a discounted rate without benefit. Union worker old and expensive and not agile. They get final contract while we increase agile worker to replace lazy non agile union. Without union, Verison will become agile leader in the 5th generation of technologies!

Are all Wireline employees Union and thus not subject to layoffs?

The separate wireless board just needs eliminated. We are all one company and have been for a while.

You posted your message on "thelayoff.com". If you can't be laid off, what are YOU doing here, troll?

no more wireline vs wireless argument, Hans would love us to transform this board to 2.0 structure. Brothers and sisters, how about we have a new board for Consummer, Business, and Media respectively, I will start them right now,

This argument regarding wireless being squatters on this board, unwilling to use the wireless board that was set up for wireless concerns is easily solved.

Set up a “wireline” specific board and leave this one, and the wireless one, to them. Then you’ll hopefully never again have to hear about their store concerns, and they’ll have no need to keep getting angry and calling union people beer drinking, sleeping, pole monkey, tards when asked that they post things to the page designated as being wireless.

Most wireline would have no need to ever come back here again, and harmony could be restored.

Peace!
