Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Many folks that want to leave but are waiting for the nex buyout.

At least that’s the general plan of many at my location. I haven't heard anything about a new buyout, and I don’t think it’s gonna happen soon even if it was planned. Why organize two buyouts in such a small time frame. Despite that logic my colleagues are waiting for it to leave the company. Are they being just foolish or maybe they know something I don’t?

For those saying "you should have taken the VSP when it was offered" - some of us weren't offered it! In Wireless CS only HQ employees got offered VSP. Anyone working in Field Ops or Center Ops was not eligible. A lot would have taken it if it had been offered to us.

The buyout is over. There will never be another. If you didn't take it then you missed out. Only RIFs from here on in. Verizon is not close to the company it once was. No pensions anymore so no one has any reason to stay. It is no better than any other big company. In fact, it is worse, salaries outside of Verizon are far better. That is why younger and ambitious good people don't come to Verizon . Hans s$cks!!

They know nothing. Considering the last buyout was 15 years ago, they shouldn't hold their breath. However a RIF will still get up to 35 weeks. They should just leave if they are unhappy.
