Prem Tech Surplus

A couple years ago prem techs at my yard were busy non stop working. So some of our installs of BP were passed to ST/FT because they didnt have enough work. Then later single and bonded pair installs are passed to them for them being slow which led prem techs work to now slow down. So are the evil lords up above seeing that prem techs no longer have enough work so we can surplus them? Dont get me wrong I enjoy the core guys I work with.

The core contract does have a mechanism to force limited OT. If those techs are indeed sitting in the yard waiting to sign off that should tell you something about the work load in that area.

Financial due to contract and probably seniority issues. The core tech has been performing more of the Prem work plus the Prem techs as a whole are the least Sr group. If the Union has any input on who goes they are going to choose the most seniority for any function that can be performed by both. I would bet that if the rumors come to pass for the groups hardest hit, the carrot for the Union, was they get to keep more of the higher paid senior guys. Also fits into the one job, one dispatch philosophy. Won’t need 2 separate groups of Mgrs. Also flows into other support groups. For instance, lessons the need for two separate groups of FLA’s among other things.

"Core did them faster"??? Son, either you were lied to or your VP is completely clueless. Core don't do anything faster. And they're heading back to their garages every day at 3:45 while Prem Techs are kept in the field all night long 'until the load is clear'.

Nothing against core techs, Prems would do the same thing if they had a full union contract and could get away with it.
