Just when I thought we were past layoffs - at least for a while - new rumors have started circulating at the office that we might see some cuts before the end of the month.
Does anybody here know more about this? I keep hoping it was just some wild guessing from bored employees, but it still has me worried...
They very well could do layoffs. The place is still very top-heavy. Worse than even IBM IMHO.

I heard a possible confirmation from the brother-in-law of a friend of a friend of a 3rd cousin who might have read a possible story on the internet by an anonymous source that said there WILL be layoffs in April. Only that other is off by a li'l bit.
From what is being rumored, they won't even bother with conference rooms, that took too long last time. Just gonna line everyone up in the Cafeteria and herd 'em out the door. So if you got an invite to the Globalcast on April 30, maybe you should start getting worried (or not). Maybe it's really an invite to speak with some folks from HR. Think about this. A. The invite is on a Tuesday. The last 2 mass layoffs were on TUESDAY. Second, the time is 9:00...all previous GCs were at 8:30, need time to get everyone there after dropping off kids or whatev's. And finally, D, there is only ONE invite to the GC. All the times in the past, there were FOUR invites to cover the various shifts, very very odd if you ask me. So think about it.
Hecky sticks, I've already lined up another job to start in mid-May and went looking for new transportation this weekend so I'll have a new ride picked out when I get my mondo sayonara paycheck in a few weeks. Time for my Big Pivot...whooooooo!!!!

All I can say is hold on during April, good chance it could get ugly. Just pay attention and if you want to know what they are doing, look at the Hangout rooms "meetings for the day". No attempt to even name meeting something that doesn't give it away.

OK, if they are only hiring for the tax breaks, then why are you insisting they are laying people off. Seems kind of a stupid thing to do, doesn't it? You "tax breakers" have been asked many times on this board to produce whatever public document that says they MUST employ X number of people for some generic "tax break". The only number I could find was something like 1,426 which is well below even the depleted ranks after this fall's exodus.
When people posts FACTS, you reply with "lol" and some general nonsense. I am no fan of GF management and I left on my own accord but I still have many friends back at Fab8 and I have a pretty good idea what is and is not happening there.

Yeah, there were like 30 people in this week's NEO (new employee orientation) at Malta, don't think we are seeing layoffs in the next 10 days.
