U-Verse and Direct TV not going nowhere
Lookup airties 7430. 4K capable wireless stb with built in smart mesh extender. Deal is already in motion with software specific to our RGs for easy set up. Android based box preloaded with Warner’s upcoming streaming service as well as an App Store to download all your favorite streaming apps. Directv and uverse brands will phase out. Existing customers can keep what they have but if they leave and comeback it will no longer be available.
No more leasing equipment either this will be sold to the customer.
In home expert door to door people are trying to take our job
they ever send a door to door to salesman to my house that will be his first and last visit to my house. I will give him all the hardware att doesn't want to take back after you cancel their service.
does att still sell digital life? boy who could of seen that coming where you could buy all the sensors package for 100 bucks at sams or costco without paying a monthly fee.
I wish att would sell off their land line business since it isn't making any money and let a company who cares about it take it over. they should get out of the fiber business too since they hate landlines so much and it isn't profitable. just give it to a company who will put their heart and soul into it instead of always finding ways to cut service to customers.
I mean come on if people are doing wireless everywhere and streaming on their cell phones they don't need fiber or even to offer internet service. they should give it to a company that isn't always trying to find ways to give the customer cheaper and worse service.

I agree with the person under me I always introduce those in home people as sales people and tell customers they will try to sell them all kinds of things they don't need and probably lie about free phones and all. They lie to us all the time telling us we get YouRefer money but steal it from us. It is just AT&T trying to take union jobs from techs and give it to In Home Experts who are clueless on anything technological.

I love Netflix and Hulu but they are pushing the industry to change and Americans are going to regret what happens to their TV if they don't start guarding it and protecting it from corporate greed. Real TV creates jobs and provides a shared experience for everyone watching. The government needs to step in and regulate Netflix, Hulu, and even AT&T to stop these streaming services and fake streaming TV apps that are taking away our jobs and our culture. The labor movement needs to wake up and realize that while technology is good in some ways we need to slow down rapid changes that can erode who we are as a people and hurt good paying union jobs. AT&T needs to be broken up and streaming services need to be heavily regulated just like real TV so it is a even playing field. Maybe DIRECTV needs to be forced out of AT&T and given to a non-profit run by pro-labor entity or a co-op to preserve jobs and shared community TV.
Getting rid of tech positions has been happening for years. If the gentleman is correct and they have the various sales channels stop offering it as a option we will see more attrition of the customer base.
Guys hear is the dirty secret. thay rely on osprey for in home experts to help old people and customers who don't know what their doing to have it set up. Thay think thay can just ship the box and have an in home sales person take our jobs. We have to unite and realize that in home experts are not our friends!! Our local stuart passed out papers saying to always introduce in home experts as sales people trying to sell you things to customers so thay are less likely to buy and be bandoozled by these door to door swindlers but also the less successful thay are the less likely thay can pull off osprey and take our jobs!! always warn your customers not to buy that thay are only their to sell them stuff thay don't need
U-Verse TV isn't going anywere customers will not put up with c-appy satelite tv or sling want to be direct tv now in your dream att they would love to get rid of techs but it wont happen!!!

The device is an Android TV powered streaming player called Osprey. (AT&T is very likely to change the name before release.) This all comes from a Reddit user called Justice_Ranger who claims to be an AT&T employee. Other AT&T Employees have also posted confirming the email and the Osprey.
i am a Uverse guy, at least until 3/29, Uverse TV is going away in Q3 or as soon as they fix all the bugs, it will be replaced by the Osprey box which is like a Roku IP-TV, a lot of employees received an email about it to be part of a trial, it will be drop-shipped (less cost, no truck roll and if a tech is needed for the internet then it's less hours per tech which means less techs needed) or delivered by In home experts which open doors for sales to upsale like they doing with delivering cellphones.
and for people who think it will be long before it happen just open spectrum webpage, they had this solution for almost a year now, the technology is here already.
my take on all this is : if you in the wireline business, get the H.. out, don't wait until most customers figure out that everyone in the family already has at least 50MB speed with 1 bar on their phones, especially with kids now being addicted to their phones, who will pay $70 to have a router siting in the corner, not saying it will disappear, but they will need less and less of us over time for less and less customers.
we can't blame only on ATT, technology is changing, products changing and the way the customers are consuming has changed..it is what it is, but everyone need to ride the wave and keep yourselves educated and up to date, that's my biggest regret today, my degree and everything i learned in the past is obsolete add my age to that....

3rd quarter just is to stop selling and offering U-Verse TV only. The Project Osprey OTT client is intended to fully replace U-Verse TV. But this is for new sales only.
AT&T Internet (formerly U-Verse Internet) is not affected and will still be sold. Existing U-Verse TV customers will not be shut off.
Techs will still service existing U-Verse TV customers for awhile and as customers need new equipment they will be migrated on to Osprey (whatever its marketing name will end up being - Probably AT&T TV.)
So yes its true but don’t expect it to go away overnight. It will be similar to the transition away from copper. It will take time.
Exactly. That lie has been going around for the past 10 years since it’s purchase.

uverse requires a fixed over head in terms of Head End, NW, Cabling, Maintenance @ the SHO / VHO levels. Economies of scale are needed to increase cash flow but a deteriorating customer base is likely to be unprofitable after a certain point and it will be in the red. Cheaper DTVNOw product will be cannibalizing UVERSE.
Funny Uverse tv still here when they said direct tv will replace it.....some dish sales but a lot of people still like U-verse better!... try to use the guide and change the channel on dish it’s ridiculously slow compared to U-verse!! 📺
3rd quarter seems quick considering it still generates a lot of cash flow unless that cash flow is hugely negative.
Halting new sales/installs doesn't imply an immediate turn down of the infrastructure or a forced migration of the existing customers, they could halt new sales and take 4 years to transition the existing customer base. 4 years is probably about the fastest they could do it given my experience watching "retire/remove" systems live on for years after their supposed sunset dates.
Well they were talking about Osprey replacing the U-Verse DVR, the last shipment of U-Verse DVRs being received and the turn down of U-Verse in the 3rd quarter, so I'd assume they meant the IPTV service.

Guessing it's to be replaced by the new DTV based OTT box. Wonder if they'll just do a box swap or force existing u-verse customers to pay for an install?
Uverse what? TV Service, hmm, maybe..Uverse internet, no way. Didn't they predict flying cars by now?
One of the high level guys said this in a live webcast a couple of years ago. Tried to retract his statement. How much capital money is being put into this service? When was the last time you have seen any advertisement for it? What business keeps a service that they are not actively trying to grow?
