Who even has mail room personnel anymore or even gets important paper mail. Someone in our office will check once a week to pick up some paper HR stuff that the employee will toss in the trash. Typically on Friday since we still have a couple that get paper copies of their paycheck.
"Chinese electronics manufacturing is far superior to American by now." What is the difference. America has no manufacturing base. It has all gone to Asia.
Some of these centers are dinky little centers, like Syracuse. Yet each probably has a mail room clerk, and other support staff.
They got to get rid of all tiny call centers, and gain some economies of scale by consolidating call center operations in places with at least 1000 people.
American car companies in the long term are eventually going to have to make cars that Indians and Chinese want to buy. Chinese electronics manufacturing is far superior to American by now. Autos are increasingly automated. The Indian and Chinese middle class are rising. The American middle class has been shrinking for years. You sell mass market cars for the mass market or you go luxury. GM costs have to reflect that.
Who do Randall and the other corporate executives think their customers are going to be when no one in this country has a job any more?
Call center jobs are for countries with slower paced economies like India. Americans cost too much for that job. Eventually AI systems will handle the calls and no one will have a job.
