I’ve been offered a higher wage to come back as a contractor. It will cover my benefit costs when I have to start paying (after the 60 weeks). That coupled with a 40 hour work week is just fine with me.
This sounds way, way, way too good to be true. Can anybody confirm this? If it IS true, it makes no sense...

@1grj - can't come back as contractor for 6 months. i left with 12/28 group - will be back on 7/1 in my contractor position, basically doing the same job I did before. Negotiations done, and new access already being worked.
which company is supplying vz with bodies? I see on the boards lots of jobs for verizon :)

OP from the original post here. It makes sense since I had 5 weeks vacation plus the personal days etc, matched 401k and benefits. The company is saving money paying me as a contractor.
Some managers are pursuing exceptions to the 6 month rule.

Makes perfect sense. No benefits, vacation, 401k match, etc. And still cheaper for the company.
Good for you. Milk them for all they are worth.
My friends that have come back as a contractor are making way more than they did as an employee. The difference is not benefits and the company can let you go anytime without notice.
