Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Did AT&T make any obligation not to fire WM employees within the acquisition deal?

To tell you the truth I’m not familiar with any technicalities regarding the specifics of the acquisition deal so forgive me if this is a question that most of zou know the answer to. Did AT&T make a promise to keep the worker headcount at Warner Media in the acquisition deal. Restructuring is coming, no doubt about it, and is s--- an obligation existed then we on the AT&T side are definitely screwed.

Because DTV pay and bonuses were higher than AT&T pay for the same job roles, and because Mike White actually wanted to make sure his employees weren't all laid off 2 months after the merger closed he included an employee protection clause in the merger agreement. It stipulated that AT&T was not allowed to substantially change (by more than 10%) the overall head count or the compensation of DTV employees for 2 years after the merger closed.

First I am hearing of employee protection clause but definitely can see that happened looking back. Anyone with more info around this?

The only obligation for WM was to give Stankey a 64% raise is compensation.

No and because the Justice Department sued rather than negotiated a settlement with agreements like job security for a period of time, AT&T can do whatever. The deal went through with no conditions.

"there is no employee protection clause in the time warner deal like there was with directv" Didn't know that but that explains a lot of what I saw.

"AT&T stocks soar today as they are preparing to trim more jobs. Sad that it comes down to people losing a job near retirement." A lot of stocks have soared the last few days. So it is unusual it went up instead of down.
