History has shown that whenever nonunion competition comes in unionized workers suffer. The trucking industry, the automotive industry, etc. Even the grocery market, I.E Walmart. They lose business to companies that can sell services at a lower cost to the consumer. It has accelerated with the millennium generation who basically have no brand loyalty. Without the company subsidized employee costs, how many of our own folks would keep our services or look for a cheaper alternative.
CWA has stood by and done nothing for 12 years as T brought in MSOC/1% pay raises/higher health care costs/offshoring of jobs/lower bonuses/ and now massive layoffs. All the stewards in our center dropped out of the CWA, techs have to look around town to find someone to sit in on a grievance. SMH
The Unions can't even get the craft employee's to "unite"--- Much less all of the CWA's to unite. --- Bad contracts and no service to their members. Glad I got out during the 1 week window to do so.
All the unions need to unite and do a full general strike like they did a century ago and shut down everything and force the corporations to give a living wage to employees and treat them with respect
If the company needs to rid of people what do they think the Union can do. Sure can't keep people employed, they can only ensure enforcement of articles of the current contract in regards to surplus.
CWA can't do anything because they are all for themselves. Use union pay so they don't have to work. Use your position as excuse to be skipped when force out of town. Union is all about seniority unless your the low man and you hold a union position.
The reason cWA cant do anything is because lack of solidarity come join us instead of complaining you are cwa you are the members not some other guy if you dont do it then dont complain others arent
