Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

@1roe made her bed, and now she’s laying in it. The way this reads to me is for 3 years now she’s been holding on to this grudge, feeling she’s the victim. There is nothing she can do. She’s helpless. And it’s all that 32 yo’s Fault. Damn him! The only hope she clings too in life is that maybe the anonymous phone call she made has made the lives of those responsible, just as sad and helpless as she feels hers is.

That’s sad. Let it go.

You called someone’s wife and told them their spouse was having an affair?

If that was in fact true, and this person actually is responsible for all your life’s problems, this does not make you a good person. And you did it anoumsoly like a coward. If you actually had concern for the wife and her well being you would have backed up your claim with who you are and why you know what you know to be true. I would not be proud of this story, and would keep it to myself going forward. Your not painted in the best light.

I hope some day you can kick the a-- of the person who really is responsible for your problems. You’ll then realize you don’t feel any better and might have a hard time sitting down for a while.

I was surplused at 45 because the 32 year old co-worker didn’t like working with older woman. So imagine having a 13, 10 and 9 year old to provide for while looking for a job. I’ve had 6 temp jobs in the last three years and managed to recoup the pay I lost and then some but I’ve had no vacation pay, holiday pay or 401K vesting. I have been lucky because I’ve never missed a paycheck so far. Probably won’t be able to sent my kids to college now because of that stupid, narasstic mf. I can only hope that someone comes along and does the same to him. Two years after my surplus, I did notify his wife about his affair with my boss during the Christmas holidays anonamously and I don’t regret it one bit. I really hope it f’ed his life and my ex-bosses. They certainty deserved it.

I guess two people can read the same post and come away with a different take. Angry? Maybe a little, but I see a pride in his story, fighting back against an age ceiling, not getting what he was hoping for but fighting the whole way, and stashing the cash just as if it were $20-$30K more he was probably making.

He didn’t win but he did not lose either.

The age ceiling is a very real, silent, invisible ceiling and Boomers (like myself) and borderline Gen-X’s (near or over 50) look over our shoulders at the Millenials that cry for us to move on. The same Millenials that want us gone, in past and future layoffs, would be our chief competition in the next job we apply for elsewhere.....this is why we stick hard and turn a seemingly deaf ear.

Why do you think it's a good post? Because of how it illustrates a guy with a bad attitude (which likely led to him being surplussed in the first place), who claimed to be unemployable, yet in the next 2 sentences explains how he is now employed full time despite of himself and the fact that he is an old "Telecom Guy"? I think it does a good job illustrating the fact that, yes, there is life after T. Even for an angry old curmudgeon like him.
