What is possible is that once the consolidation is done, relocating to the other more distant offices is next. And the discarding of WFH from home means you no longer have a reason not to travel or move. There are directors that were forced to move to Dallas or take a downgrade.
This is not new.
Why are you reading articles if you work there and therefore know more than the author?
