Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Former PTC

As a now former PTC they have given a few different options. There is a severance which won’t last long. Or take another position. What are you other PTC’s transitioning into?

Yes! Peace out Sam’s Club! As we all understand. The Company has a Close eye on this site. I’m glad I don’t have to worrie anymore.

This opportunity is a blessing. God bless the Walton Family.

Club pickup is on option if there is an opening in your club. More than ever people are buying things online and companies need actual bodies/people to walk the aisles to pick the merchandise. Another way to look at it is you are a professional shopper...just saying.

You PTC people are lucky! Take that severance and go while you still can. With no PTC these clubs are going to be going to hell fast. No audit, No Claims, No PTC, just more work to pile apon managers and especially teamleads who will see no pay increase. If you stay, you will get asked to do PTC stuff but not be paid for it as this is what happens to all positions that have been eliminated.

Associates will now have to lean apon managers and leads to talk to instead of a dedicated HR person which is Ludacris. I also see new associates falling through the cracks at an alarming rate.

I was a ptc for 11 years of my 20 with the company and when I heard that tried a test market with no PTCs ...myself and the others in my metro area (4 PTCs in total) we all took open positions and jumped ship while there were openings. I am now the Lead MSS, another is Technology Lead, another left to be an Optician in Training at Walmart and the last went to Cake Decorator. Obviously only 2 of us were able to keep our money.

If you stay you will continue to do the same job and your new position because they will use you guaranteed. Receiving, claims that have left they call us at home with questions and want call another club or send the new people to be trained.

I can imagine how they would of used us if we would of stayed it would of been more stress. No we dont answer our phone anymore, they need to figured it out them self's. So PTC's that are leaning towards staying, just be prepared to do two jobs from here on out.

I hate to say it because I know there is some really great PTCs out there but ours is terrible! Not a people person at all. The only time she was somewhat nice is when she was with the CM. I really hope she takes her severance package and goes!

Former PTC here, transitioning to the Walmart side. There are no positions left in my club and I am up for a new challenge. I know there will still be changes, no matter where you go, but for now, will enjoy my time, leading on the sales floor, in a new environment. I will miss my club associates, but it’s best that I leave.

I’m a soon to be former PTC and I’m torn big time. As scary as it is I’m leaning towards severance. The associates that remain are going to struggle without us just because mgmt is overwhelmed. Wait until there is one less mgr too!!!

I am a 23 year PTC and I am taking my severance and leaviing. I feel so sorry for the Associates. They are heartbroken and worried. No one in our club knows anything about Personnel. The managers are so stressed out right now. I have had so many both managers and associates tell me today that they are going to look for another job.

I’m taking the severance. Be sure to apply for unemployment, too. Laws vary from state to state. Good luck and God bless to all PTCs.

What if you take a new position and it's lower rate of pay...then six months from now they eliminate your new position. So, you gave up severance, just to be in same boat again, now with maybe no severance or a lower one. I feel bad for all having to decide.

PTC here & I am looking for employment elsewhere! Taking my severance & saying goodbye to my Sam’s Club Family that I love so much! I have seen too many people being forced out & cant stand being there to see more associates go.
