Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The new shape of the teams?

I’m definitely curious how are they going to shape the teams after the layoffs. Obviously it can’t stay the way it is, given that some teams were left with less than half the manpower. What will be the main criteria for the new shape of the teams?

We all work with each other in a spirit of cooperation for a common goal. And we all care about each other, what we do, how we feel, where we spend our vacations. We develop friendships with each other. It's so hard to break those.

"What will be the main criteria for the new shape of the teams?"

Probably the same criteria for the layoff. Which means there isn't any logic or forethought.

I am a simple 2nd level manager. Our team, as most will attest is a strong, experienced, and dedicated group of family providers. I have never questioned the integrity of any one of them.

I had the "opportunity" to deliver the message to 40% of my team that they are no longer needed. Some were OK with the message, many are struggling.

To everone: I became very emotional when I saw the names. I grew up with many of them. I delivered the message in a very robotic way. I had no choice. I am truly sorry. Next round will be me.
