Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The true purpose of HR

The purpose of HR in any company is to protect the company and its interests. Management within a company are the proxies for a company, therefore HR protects manager misconduct to protect the company.

This was taken from another thread where it was posted as a reply, PostID:@XuqMNxI-ygc . Frankly, I was surprised that people are debating the role of HR and whose interests it protects. Thought that was understood. In any case, this guy summed it up well in these two sentences.

And if you do report something to HR you had better have some solid evidence to back up your claim.

Something recorded, something on paper or email, etc. Otherwise you will just be accused of lying, when it was actually the other employee's fault and they are lying that they did nothing wrong and say instead their victim is lying and making trouble for them. Then people think that you, the victim, are the "bad guy" for lying about the other employee and instigating "trouble". With no evidence that is what will likely occur. A very vicious swindle. Applies to all companies.

Unfortunately every company is like this, the common people has to dodge every day bullets to stay away from the troublemakers to hold a job and maybe save enough to retire in their 70s.

This is true and something everyone who works for any company should know.

HR is not there to help you or protect you from the company, HR is there to protect the company from you.
