Besides sending a letter to our Congressman about the layoffs what is your real plan? This is an absolute joke, been employed since 1990 and have never seen anything like this. What in the world do you think our elected officials are gonna do? Answer= NOTHING!!!!!!!! We want a contract not some pony show you guys are putting on! It's about time you ask the membership what they want!

@4kfg, you’ve been on this same ‘letter’ crusade over multiple threads, actually on almost every thread....your passion is great, but like a poster on a bulletin board, you read it once and then you’re just wasting our time, and yours!
Having said all that, it’s your time to waste.
If Congress is unwilling or unable to hold corporate America accountable then it is up to us the consumer.
AT&T has cut over 10,000 jobs since the Tax Cut and Jobs Act passed and has sent these jobs overseas.
Health care?
Living wages?
Pension?
Those things are earned when you work. We the working people need to fight for exactly the same benefits as that of the CEO's and Congress.
"They" want you to believe you don't deserve these things just because you have a job. We have fallen for their mind tricks and need to stand up and fight back.

CWA leadership should call on a NATIONWIDE BOYCOTT of all AT&T products. Hit Stephenson and Donovan where it hurts!! Imagine losing 100000 or 200000 subs in a quarter....Just the threat will bring them to the table and bargain. The US is a sham run by the corporations and we need to bring this b--ch to a head. BANKRUPT theses sons of b--ches.
I’ve been a union dues paying member since the 90s, but the District 9 fiasco was quite a joke. They had the company by the balls and failed to act when they had some real leverage. Then out of state loaners came in to help a tired, over worked workforce to be met with utter b---s---. Especially “lost our unity” Lou and the Bakersfield bunch. Thanks for cutting gas lines and tampering with our trucks. Nice, classy move. But hey, thanks for the 40k and the reassurance that I will never have to spend another moment in the sh--hole Central Valley.

As long as the company knows the union will never strike contacts will never get any better! They’re just going to keep offering less and less every contact
@1xdr The union doesn't want to go on strike because the membership can't afford to be out for an extended period of time (think SEVERAL months). I believe it because I see debt riddened id--ts pulling into garages with nice trucks, SUVs, sports cars etc...
I have worked in the Southeast since 1999. We have never walked out for even 1 day to protest a Contract offer or other issues. A strike is the best weapon any Union has, yet the CWA chooses to never use it. Everyone is right--it's all about the $$$$$! Keep paying those dues
ATT is not stupid. They have divide all the Unions --and the Unions are too lazy to work together.CWA 4 doesn't know what CWA 9 is doing...IBEw 21 is off on it own island hiding. Divided we fall, together we win......it's almost crimmal of the Union leadership
Members must put forth a proposal to AUDIT the CWA! We would like to know that are union dues are being utilized for the benefit of it's members!
Inept weak leadership. It has to be a Verizon worker type strike or nothing will be gained. But it won’t happen in D4, or D9 either when it’s our turn. Only the east coast locals have the balls to strike. D9 votes to authorize a strike everytime but the bargaining teams and their handlers prefer to wear the leash.
I’m sure the thought of having to lead a walkout for a few weeks or more terrifies the fatties at he top. Oh no my life will be disrupted....tears😢
I think I've seen this before - California, District 9 was without a contract for year in the last round. This is a little different since this is the contract that takes District 4 through 2020, and they said they want to retire the landline in 2020 - but as far as the time length is concerned, I don't think it has gone as long as the last round for District 9, yet.
@1aux Did you think it'll be 8 hour days working in the field when you got hired? We were doing 12 hour days minimum doing DSL installs and maintenance in the late 90s and without the same service discounts (cellular, DirecTV, and internet) discounts we get today.
After working ten to eleven hour shifts every day, prem techs are too tired to write letters to their congressman. Maybe if we had a union that fought just a little bit harder to get prems humane work hours we could do your job and try improve things for at&t's workers.
But then, what are we paying you for?

The union has no say in head count. They just make sure the company follows the contractual process for surplus.

There is no doubt the massive surplus is coming to the Midwest. You can tell how the managers of the outside crews are acting. They know it and are staying hush hush. In reality they will get hit too.
I noticed the union seems to be doing little for you guys but I am hopeful it turns out better for you guys then what Randy and the John's just did to the managers.

I agree, give us real updates and get this hammerred out! I bet other Districts are wondering what in the world are they doing?????? You don't work for the government you work for your members but you think you people were on a shutdown.
Just keep paying your dues. The union is big business. A bit different than other businesses though. The union doesn’t have to worry about keeping their customers (the membership) happy or satisfied. You’re stuck. What are you going to do? They got you. You can’t fire them and demand better representation without huge and almost insurmountable obstacles put in place by the very politicians that your union dues go to support.
