Why do you need the three years added?

Doesn’t adding three years lessen your payout if you’re >55, since that’s three less years of life expectancy?

Hitting 30 used to be important when it meant free medical coverage for life. Now, not so much, in many cases.

@vjc

Looks like you and tje are both right, or both wrong, handled different ways in different locals. I don’t like the garage-level way that your local does it. Seems unfair, rather than just backfilling, and letting the senior person go before allowing someone with less time.

@etn

It’s a voluntary buyout targeted at the older associates to give them an insentive to retire.

Must be different from area to area. Local 827 website has previous eisp’s listed with an attached pdf file that shows garage locations and number of people allowed for that location.

You’re not restricted from getting an eisp based upon what garage you’re in. If you’re within an FAA that is offering a number of eisps, say 30, for a certain job title, and you are one of the 30 most senior people that put in for it, regardless of garage within that FAA, it is yours to take. You will be backfilled, rather than being kept on while someone with less seniority in your FAA/job title gets it.

If past practice is any indication, I believe you are incorrect. In my Local, all the previous offers I’ve seen over the past three decades have been by job title in large areas, rather than by garage (i.e., 169 Field Technicians in FAA 1 (New York City) )

I have never heard of the system you’re describing.

@tje

Obviously you’ve never seen an eisp. Whenever one is offered, a list comes out with job titles, locations (garages) and the number of people at each location. The 3rd level is told how many people are permitted to go, and it is their job to decide which locations and how many at each location can go until that number is reached. You should educate yourself before making stupid statements.

@lfp, troll, an EISP has NEVER been broken down to garage level and, contractually, will not be.

Latest rumor I heard was that one is coming, but after first quarter. Linemen and facility techs will be included but there will be limits on the number of people and garage locations. No word on time added.
