Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Big Data

As they refine the capabilities to get more granular information, this could be the ultimate game changer as far as force requirements in some areas. How many conference calls are attended with 10 people on the line for a couple of hours and only 4-5 contributing. As someone mentioned, how much time is being spent on Q for non company related issues? I would think that they could track personal cell phone usage above break and lunch times even on non AT&T systems in our buildings. 10 people in a group but 20-30 hours of that type of usage daily by using aggregation. All of a sudden the executives can get reports on things us peons see daily. Big brother is moving into the spare bedroom next to ours.

You act like AT&T is Google or something. If they were that smart the company wouldn't be where it's at. You think they need all that to lay someone off? They don't care if you chat on Q all day, they will just hire someone overseas to replace you that talks on Q all day cheaper. They don't care.

Wonder how much computer space would be freed up if they told folks to delete those recurring calls off their calendars that they don’t attend or the project was finished a year ago.

"My boss uses Q all day to chit chat with his side chick 🤷🏽‍♂️ Guess he doesn’t realize all that is archived."

True dat. Several years ago a (stupid) ex-boss of mine and her (stupid) side chick both got fired because they were using the company's computer network for romantic messaging.

I would humbly submit that 80% of all conference calls are unnecessary. PM's use them as a method to show they are working, other folks that have no reason to be on the call do so to justify their existence. It's lunacy. I am a PM and I hold the absolute bare minimum of calls. I.E. I will not tie up 30 people on a call that I could have avoided by making 2 phone calls. I know one day it may bite me, but so be it.
