Option 2 and Unemployment

Hi, anyone know if selecting Opgion 2 to take the money and run will keep us from being able to collect Unemployment?

AT&T won't dispute your UI claim

Pension monthly payments matter but not social security

If you want UI you'll want to delay your pension date

Surplussed last September. I took Option 2, received severance, and qualify for unemployment in Washington State for 26 weeks.

Here are my questions to the unemployment folks. Do i have to accept a job offer if it pays less? How far am I expected to commute for a new job? If I trigger my retirement annuity now, does that disqualify me for unemployment? When can I applyrelative to the severance check payout?

Check local unemplyment rules before you decide. I won't put it past HR to say you volunteered if you select the earlier date.

Each state has different rules, so reach out to your Unemployment Office for guidance. Some states do not "count" your severance against you, but some do. Also, some states will give you unemployment pay, but reduce the amount if you have already started your pension, since it is "income". Good luck, I've been there!
