So today on 1/31/19 there was a surplus for cad techs (150+) , we are union and support constructing and engineering wire line. In today's phone call it was said due to the new engineering software "aramis" there will be no need for the cad tech position. Yet they offered follow the job to Grand Prairie Texas.
Ok so if the 3rd line said there will be no need for us, why would they keep the position in Grand Prairie. Can they do this?
Dont blame the union, blane yourself, at the end of the day it is up to you to figured out what to do, specially when you find yourself All Alone. SNAP SNAP !!!@
Drafting techs are going the way of office girls. As an engineer it is easier for me to do my own correspondence and drafting rather than wait on someone else.

They got rid of that position here (Ohio) years ago. We have had aramis for some time now. The engineer does his / her own drafting.
At least half of you won't move... Then in a year they'll move the work again (maybe even back to the original location) to lose most of you again.
Work relocation is a tool management can use to reduce headcount. It's been done before and it'll be done again.
