Any company that would require these kind of cuts where positions and the skill of the employee do not factor into the equation is a company with some MASSIVE leadership issues. Cutting under-performers and hiring younger talent is a typical natural state for a company. This is something far worse than that though. This stinks of desperation. I wonder if we are seeing the beginning of the end for big T.

They were doing that years ago. The good people got fed up and found a better job because they saw the writing on the wall. They lost the good talent years ago.
And it has been the beginning of a slow long end of Att.
i really don't feel sorry for a lot that were left behind. they are probably still there because they found a way to back stab the person who got forced out to keep their own job.
The sad thing is I got laid off but I actually feel sorry for the folks left behind. They get to climb back up on the post and see who gets hit in the next round. I am so glad it is over.
Agree that the company is struggling. We lost how many subscribers this past quarter? 409k dtv, 2xx dtvn, and 413k wireless lines? You can definitely tell leadership is desperate with the demands they are making on those of us that are remaining. We went from being a great place to work to a hell hole sweatshop in my org. I’m out of here as soon as I find something, unless I quit before then or get fired for telling our bosses to go f themselves. They are ridiculous. My entire group feels the same. Everyone is heading for the door unless you an old timer waiting on a package.
AT&T will not be fine. Just like GE will not be fine. These are companies in decline. Maybe they are too big to fail. But I doubt T is popular with the Trump administration so a bailout? Maybe not.
GE is the poster child of debt at 76 Billion. We should have the centerfold at 180 Billion........ this Stealth layoff has nothing to do with anything but Leverage and the possibility that AT&T debt would be downgraded 2 notches to Junk Status increasing borrowing costs. Time Warner wrote down 99 Billion years ago for the AOL fiasco. Yes, the same Time Warner we now own. Look for a huge DTV writedown in 3-5 years..........
Company will be fine. I AM NOT SURE about you or me,
