Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Rate the transition

So how do you think the transition is going? I don’t anticipate it will be seemless like Hans promised. What a train wreck. Someone should be fired....

Also for each functionality there is only one or two persons who have the knowledge. People leaving left and right before transitioning is not going to work well

This is ridiculous we have applications managed by infosys that interact with applications that are managed by Verizon split down the middle. Total chaos.

2-hew...Hans definitely should take the blame, but so should IT management. The new IT guys running things with the exception of a few are clueless. There are whole teams of people leaving and people trying to take over without any knowledge of the technology they are dealing with. On top of that they are losing a ton of knowledge. You can’t hire that off the street. The IT transition is a train wreck.

Was talking to one of the IT guys who took the package. They asked him to stay, because his org, which didn't outsource to InfoSys, was decimated, all the experienced ones took the package. They are in a panic. I have a feeling there will be a lot of experienced IT folks under contract for some time; they will likely "forget" about the 6-month rule. Hans is a disaster, as his former employer knew, and fired his a--.

If you are working overtime, that's your issue. It won't make a difference, so why bother? Oh, and I guarantee that InfoSys will not be working 40+ hour weeks.

What a trainwreck.

I'm on IT calls daily where we are expected to push projects forward that are being implemented by another part of the business without thought to the end result and my team is calling out HUGE issues and it's falling on deaf ears because they don't have enough people to handle all of the work loads. I'm doing the job of two people and working 50ish hours and that's my new norm.

Dive in to the "permanent white water" to embrace the change. See the story in VZWeb and, "Start being honest with yourself that more, not less, turmoil is ahead."

You'll need to suspend some disbelief to gargle the kool-aid because the constant chaos implied ignores the reality of Homeostasis. Remember: "Don't let facts get in the way of good propaganda." - Joey Goebbels

It's already a cluster. Hans needs to step up his leadership and start taking action to correct the ship. I see wireline possibly being sold off. Then ex-VSPers will rejoin (unless it's an offshore company like Infosys).

They can't even RIF people right. "You're gone! Oh, in like 7 months."

The most confusing part is the secrecy surrounding it all, funny nobody will acknowledge that we lost over 50% of our people and "management" refuses to set the appropriate expectation so we are left trying to do everything BAU with 50% less resources. Its almost as if you are looked at as weak if you can't produce the results. Everyone is miserable.
