Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Executives are misinformed making very bad business decisions

Legacy units my a--! It was all decided defying logic purely by location. My last performance review was “Far exceeds”. I received a key contributor award last year. I was supporting new services. I working on software defined network (SDN), AT&T integrated cloud that has been a disaster, and other new to market services and features I cannot speak of without risk of it revealing who I am for anyone in HR or leadership scanning this board. I was just a few months away from being retirement eligible.

att does not care about their employees. they have no direction and is strictly being ran for the board and their buddies. they want the board and few execs and the rest of the employees to be either contract with the lowest pay or robots. I think randall and johnny prefer the later.

Consolidation and uniformity. Worked on numerous projects to standardize processes across the different regions. Looks like the company is willing to take the big road bumps this year to work on those issues in preparation for the 2020 date they have been targeting. Lots of employees in the big cities all doing the same work the same way.

If you are within 24 months from being retirement eligible you can still take the MTP option. It will cut your severance 50% but then you can receive health and life benefits and retiree discounts.

This one is not performance-based, but location based.

I'm seeing way more really good people surplussed this time around, and too often, they seem to be from smaller offices the company hopes to close.

This is not legacy. The people I'm seeing surplussed have IP network, network security, system administration, even cloud experience. All really nice and helpful people, too, so it's not that either.

This round is going to cripple a lot of maintenance functionality. It's as though they think the machines run so well for so long, all by themselves.

L4+ VP award winner, numerous Key contributor awards, net ops star performer, service excellence winner here. Worked on D2 platforms in AIC including elements pertaining to firstnet. I got the boot, I’m in a state that doesn’t have a “sanctuary city” or collaboration zone to use AT&T lingo. Mad? No. I will find a company who sees their employees as assets unlike AT&T which never has.

Thanks, PNE, and Godspeed to you... Your winning attitude will be missed by the people who count still here at ATT. You will fare well and be in a better place this time next year!

Horrible for many of my peers. I feel bad for those that remain. I am very fortunate to be eligible for management transition program to buy into retiree benefits, but at the cost of half my severance package. Too young to retire permanently, but a long sabbatical to refresh and start a less free and better quality life as my next chapter in life. Lesson learned to always prioritize my personal life over work. Gave to many 50 and 60 hour work weeks, handling escalation calls while on vacations and none of this did me good. Time to make life great again! Best of luck to all who have been surplused and I will pray for those that still are employed at AT&T.

It’s terrible. We are nobody to this company. Just a number. I’m hoping you are eligible for TLOA or the management equivalent of that.
