Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Next round?

Since we all know this is far from over, do we have any ideas on when next round might hit? Also, any ideas on how many people total were shown the door this week?

The closer we can get to the real number, the easier it will be to figure out how many more are left to be laid off.

Houston, the 4th largest city in the US, and third largest in AT&T regulated territories, is NOT a "Collaboration" zone.

I heard 15% in ATO. don't know if that's what was just hit or expected to be cut in 2019. my guess is that was what just was cut 2 days ago. with, I am sure, more to come

Plan for end of April notifications, off payroll by end of June. Assume there will be several reorg’s in the months until then.

"So what's the point of staying on trying to get a job that isn't there?"

The point of staying 60 days is to earn another two months' worth of income and benefits, including possible pro rata of bonus, next year (if you qualify and if bonus is awarded), plus it gives you time to look for a job outside of AT&T.

Lake Mary is a Satellite not a CZ. The closest CZ in Florida is Atlanta.

I had a great review last year, lots of work supporting Tier 2 DSL (What's left of them) but I didn't live in a CZ. There is only ONE in the whole state of Florida, in "Central Florida" which I assume is the Lake Mary location. I don't have a clue what to do about the MTP and insurance, etc. And of course my "ERM" has a voicemail that says 'don't leave a voicemail'. I meet the rule of 75 (as of November) but not sure if that even matters at this point. If you do a general search on available jobs, there are a whopping 1172 - most of which are retail. So what's the point of staying on trying to get a job that isn't there? I'm young and not as jaded yet, so please don't hold back! lol.

You can expect them quarterly in different parts of the company.

I was told by a friend who said they got it from a reliable source that two more waves are planned for this year with the next in April/May. Take it for what it's worth, but I will say over the past several years I have found the info that has supposedly come from this source to be accurate.

I heard June but I don’t know if that’s declaration or off payroll.

I don't know the exact numbers (no one will except the bean counters and senior levels of mgmt) but, at least in the management ranks, the percentage is somewhere around 8% in Technology Operations. Any manager not in a collaboration zone (Telecommuter) is toast.
