@XmrwhcY-wuq Has a great article on the ATT and Verizon Pension losses affecting earnings. These guys have to fund the pension with earnings when the stick market dropped in December.

I heard I can lose the lump sum if the AT&T pension is not properly funded. If it is not funded properly AT&T can pay an annuity rather than the lump.
AT&T is now at the point they can avoid the lump sum payment
the Pension is backed by the Government up to limits that all but the execs need to worry about. https://www.pbgc.gov/
I took the lump sum last Sept when laid off since I just have doubts about AT&T. I can accept that I was laid off, even though I told my 2nd to lay me off, but AT&T just doesn't look like a well run company. They keep thinking they are an entertainment company with buying Direct TV and TW, but they are all 'old phone company' people. Everyone in leadership all started with 'party lines' were the norm. I don't think they want to realize that 'the times...they are a changin"...and they times started changing back in the 90's.
Article states AT&T is making earnings look lower by taking the pension expense in one year rather than "smoothing" it out over many years.
This is a tactic to make earning look worse and make layoffs easier in a market of lower earnings. Thanks for the article @XmrwhcY-wuq
I am terrified knowing that my pension may be impacted by the book rigging techniques that are currently taking place in AT&T's financial disclosures
