So....ATO FT Teleworker not Near CZ

I am a Full time teleworker in FL for ATO. The nearest zone is ATL. Will I be lucky to have a job by the end of this year, or will I make it into 2020? Thanks

Wondering if any TW's that reported to a CZ were surplussed. Not including ones where the entire team was cut, but individuals.

Flex Office Worker here (FOW)

It was all a farce.

Love my notification (not)

Most the people working for AT&T have to be over mid-40's, so it's not a conspiracy, "most of the folks let go are older."

We have many in our org located in Florida (6 or more) in different groups and none were made surplus..I think a couple report in an office but most are Teleworkers. I am not sure how they show up in the system as these days folks are updating their address as Texas so no one really knows....Others show FTO but work from home etc etc..all a big farce

I'm ATO management. Our team is dispersed covering work that is geographically dispersed. We could not all report to a CZ if we had to; the team would have to be eliminated. That is not going to happen based on the work we are doing right now. The CZ thing is a lie, a farce. An easy way to get rid of folks that fall into a certain category.

Full time TW, outside of CZ, Top performer, I've been blocked from leaving my group in the past by citing "needs of the business" and I was cut yesterday. First 2 in the chain of command above me are scrambling to try to absorb my departure. I feel for them, they're going to be in a world of sh--.

Pretty surprised to hear you made it.

Depends on what you do. Always have an exit strategy. Not all not in CZ were surplused. Talked to two people today, survived, one did not. the one who was surplused was assured by his boss performance was not a factor.

Feelstuck - hate to burst yr bubble but if you are still alive after yesterday's layoff by the angel of death you wont survive the next layoff.

I was let go yesterday 1/28 - surplussed as they like to say. I am in ATO and an approved fulltime teleworker who has worked outside of a collaboration zone for over 11 years. My understanding is that all teleworkers outside of a CZ or hub city were on a list solely because of their geographic location. This is outrageous and obscene! No way to do your layoffs. Executive management is gutless and they are all cowards down to and including the presidents of the different organizations. Ironic that before I became an approved fulltime teleworker I worked in downtown Atlanta during the merger.

I suspect OP is under 50. And that most of the folks let go are older. In my group- all of them were older workers.

User @bsv is asking the key question here, how old are you

Are you over or under 50 years old?

If you are in FL and made it this round it really tells me that we are hearing some garbage from management on exactly WHAT the criteria is/was for this surplus. I am glad you are safe, but it just seems really weird. Doesn't it?

You should have a plan that includes an exit strategy. AT&T is NOT going to protect you. Only YOU can take care of YOU. Good luck.

Wow, you actually made it past yesterday? Keep crossing your fingers. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be feeling too confident long term considering how much they are emphasizing location these days...

Unfortunately, many others in FL with full-time TW were just let go for that very reason. You might get lucky, but I personally would be concerned if I were in your shoes. Best of luck!
