Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T is laying off VETERANS!

For years AT&T has publicly championed the hiring of Veterans across all domestic business units but now they are laying them off and NO ONE CARES!

AT&T to employee Veteran: "Thank you for your service to our country but your service to our company is no longer wanted. Now go away."

And yet Fortune Magazine rewards them with a "top 100 best company to work for" award for 2018. Shame on you Fortune Magazine. SHAME!!

Veteran status has no bearing on layoffs, bro. You might get a hand up on hiring but the kick out the door is random and seemingly arbitrary.

OP is likely not a veteran. The ones I know hold their head high, don't ask for special treatment and adapt and overcome.

I'm an ex-Marine and I got laid off by an ex-Marine. But that didn't play into it at all. I just got laid off.

The hip and trendy "we're so great to veterans", "we love to hire veterans". etc. nonsense, over especially the last decade or so is obviously pure PR propaganda to anyone that has worked here for a while. And T is not alone on this, you see similar propaganda at every large corporation these days. BTW, I agree with @uve (even as a veteran)... that my job should not be protected over his simply because I am a veteran (especially if he has seniority). I am not entitled to that. When I was a hiring manager, if it came down to 2 very similarly qualified people, both of whom interviewed well and showed promise, I would admittedly hire the veteran over the non veteran. I felt like I owed them that, and I don't feel bad about it.

I really don't care if a vet with 20 years gets laid of before I do with 30 years.

Ty for your service, but just as you didn't start in the military at the top, so it is here.

Virtual signal much?

What a Lame post, being a Veteran does not protect me from being surplussed off. You guys need to chill, and if we need stupid advocates we will solicit for them.

Veterans are not cheap foreign labor. AT&T only likes cheap foreign labor. Fact. #IndiaRocks
