Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

closing statement on today's analyst call

Randall Stephenson

Okay. Okay, so listen, I want to thank everybody for joining us today. ‘18 was a solid year. It was basically doing what we told you we were going to do at the analyst conference. And as I mentioned at the outset, I feel like we can check the box, we are doing exactly what we said. We feel very good about getting to 2019 and stabilizing enterprise Entertainment Group EBITDA margins. We feel really good about the wireless business. It's a year of execution, delivering on cash flow and delivering on debt pay down and delivering returns of capital to our shareholders. So we thank you for joining us and look forward to speaking with you later. Thanks a lot.

Randall- nobody is buying your lies anymore. The folks who work on Wall Street? Guess what? They are pretty smart! You aren’t fooling them.

"I thought this is a layoff site ? I am sorry but I prefer to discuss layoff topics on a site called thelayoff.com"

The abysmal results, along with the unsustainable debt load, that Stephenson, the board and upper management have saddled AT&T with, are directly related to the lay-offs. If you're not interested, don't read the posts or go elsewhere.

Obviously, Wall Street isn't buying any of Randy's blabber and I would bet you that ever Randy and John, if they are being honest with themselves, know what they are saying is nonsense. When a CEO has to lead the results for the quarter with how happy he is with the pay down of debt you know bad results will follow. About the only buffoons buying this are the Board of Directors. Let's face it, the old Bell System, and AT&T in particular, were never know for producing stellar senior managers. History if replete with Bell System and AT&T alumni running companies into the ground (including the old AT&T!!). Look at Lucent, NCR, Old AT&T, Pac Tel, etc. There problem you have is some one like Randy who actually thinks he is a world class manager of a diversified media company when nothing could be further from the truth, he had trouble just running what Ed Whitacre turned over to him. The T-Mobile disaster, the Direct TV disaster, the Mexico & South America disasters and now loading up on debt with insufficient investment in wireless right at the peak of the business cycle and the beginning of cracks in the wall of Warner Media are some of the "credits" on Randy's resume. Let's hope the Board acts before T becomes the next GE.
