@1oyn Craft employees are another term used for the rank and file union represented employees. All employees with job titles not listed as "represented" job titles are hired as managers and are easily disposed of by upper level management as shown by the latest round of headcount reductions.
Nobody in at&t should be surprised by these cuts. The company said it wants a major reduction across the board by 2020. There were management documents discovered in 2005 for network operation center consolidation in 5 years. Sure enough they started the consolidation within that 5 year period.

@1ixy From what I gather from this page union vs non union has different surplus schedules. We were told 5-6% of managers across the board were surplused. This came from the Lockwood Organization. 1 2 3 4 lines were cut! It's a cold world in corporate. Seems if you want to stay with the company you may have to step out your comfort zone and move up to a new division or just wait until the Titanic bashes the iceburg.
We are acting like some of this is not connected. What happens when all the engineers across the country are using the same systems and doing their work the same way.
The company has an agreement with the Union to surplus once a quarter. Look in your Union handbook. The dates are in there and the next one is March 13th or 14th.

I am an engineer in the mid-west....we switched from Ares to Aramis about 3 years ago and yes we do are own Cad drawings.....we no longer have drafters do that work.....most of the design specialist where surplused...they where all union......Engineers in the Midwest do both jobs now....less engineers and more work.........
There are quite a lot of 30+ year field services technicians who'd love a buyout now since interest rates wiped out $50k of their pension lump sum and will probably not go any lower on the foreseeable future.
Illinois drafters were surplussed long ago after aramis upgrade and engineer training to do their own drafting
Union president personally contacted a cad tech and said get ready for tomorrow all cad tech positions will be gone.
The new aramis engineering software is automating and getting rid of ALL cad tech positions tomorrow, we have 150 plus cad techs in Texas / Missouri / Arizona. Now you think tomorrow's announcement is just for them?..........doubt it
