Figures, blame Trump. This has nothing to do with Trump. This is all about AT&T's horrible job in senior and executive levels running the company into the dirt. Many in my org affected carried seniority and highest salaries. Performance results and stack ranking were just formalities. Like internal job postings that no one has a shot in hell to get but the pre-determined candidate.

AT&T is getting hurt by some of the FANG stocks like Google and Facebook. Guess what? Those are not American companies anymore as they moved their headquarters out of the U.S. for lower corporate tax rates. Meanwhile AT&T has to pay U.S. corporate tax rates.

Stop using Google (use duckduckgo.com)

Stop using Facebook

Also, Apple's move much of their headquarters to Irleand too. The U.S. should put tariffs on all Apple phones.

5000 is an exaggeration...looking at the boards it even falls short of 1000....

What Trump could do for the layoff souls? He is just a loudmouth con man. My team was cut down 45% yesterday, all of them were 55+ years old near retirement eligible. You can figure out. These folks have a family, wife and children to be fed, clothed and sheltered. This is the most brutal layoff I have never seen in 18 years working for T.

"This is the first time yesterday ever seeing a company not officially via press release disclose total layoff number."

Where have you been? AT&T hasn't disclosed lay-off numbers for years.

The Indiana Carrier bailout was a sham and insignificant. Most of those workers refused to update their own skills. Carrier took to the money and cut jobs/offshored anyway

I really wish Trump would figure out a way to put tariffs on outsourced customer service jobs the way he has with all the manufactured s@#t we import from China. I would love to see my employer paying a tariff for all the American jobs that have been sent to India, BRNO, the Philippines, and gawd knows where else.

Trump has not done a thing to stop the offshoring of IT jobs. Yes he has helped with manufacturing jobs, but there is still a huge problem in the IT industry. Rampant H1B visa abuse and offshoring to India is a major problem. This needs to be addressed. And it is not just Trump’s fault- Congress needs to act as well. It’s unlikely though because BOTH sides have been bought and paid for by the big corporate and globalist lobbyists.

Trump has protected the American worker! See Carrier and the Auto industry for examples! MAGA 2020!

From what I'm seeing, 10 here 20 there, I think we're talking about 500 tops. But, the trolls don't quit.

It is far more than 5,000. The target was about 6% in total so close to 14,000

So the President is supposed to stick up for American workers when AT&T covers up the layoff by claiming they are hiring? This layoff was reported by many outlets over the last 2 weeks as a major layoff coming including FOX news. One outlet somehow missed it- CNN. A post wanting to know how CNN missed it and suggesting they were too busy trying to destroy the president for the last 2 years was removed by the site moderator (layoff.com content policy says you can't ask for votes). I imagine OP's comments will stay up and these comments will be removed. Place your blame in the right place.
