We are in Mexico although our unit is out of Dallas. We also received a AT&T memo last night stating interest rates will affect the lump sum so we should LEAVE. This seems to be a backhanded way to get us out before interest rates rise
No that is not the memo from AT&T. That is a blog post from a recruiting firm. You can look on the blog and you’ll see the memo from AT&T it was posted earlier today

Recruiting and Layoff sites Thelayoff.com and Techstaffer are having huge increase in activity on topics surrounding AT&T Layoffs. These sites, the layoff.com, and Techstaffer attribute website volume increase due to AT&T layoff announcements. Sites Glassdoor and Motherboard also have reported news on AT&T layoffs.
These sites message boards claim that the AT&T layoffs will be big and will hit several states
The states in the layoffs will include New York, California, Texas, New Jersey, Washington State, Colorado, Atlanta, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, as well as Washington, D.C.
This will be part of the company’s “geographic rationalization” effort to reduce its “surplus” of workers.
AT&T has confirmed that it is planning layoffs, but hasn’t nailed down the finer details of them.

It also looks like these layoffs will start then and will continue through the next few months.
Managers at AT&T were told last week about the layoffs and are preparing for the changes.This information was sent to them through an internal memo from the company.

AT&T Packages – Verbal announcements came out today
The news received this morning is that there will be a severance.
Need to be off payroll by Feb 18th or take the offered job(within 50 miles) in the next 60 days to receive severance. If you can not find a job you get severance
AT&T Severance is two weeks for every year of service.
It is capped at 6 months pay

We just received a memo on the slowdowns and lots of reasons why people are going. I am in construction and engineering and have a meeting at 4pm PST. STaying calm

They are dead on. All those groups are getting hit and severance numbers are the same we are hearing.
I agree with some of the other OPs. ATT has done a great job suppressing all the layoff news. There is barely anything out there on the ATT layoffs and I have seen the numbers approaching 7k.
Keep the word out and maybe we can get the same press as GM and Mary Barra
