Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What’s gonna happen after the layoffs?

In any case, I don’t see the layoffs stopping at this, There will be new ones, either in the manner that it just continues or there will be another wave. That’s just my opinion.

My question would be what will happen after the people that were intended to be let go are gone. Are we going to see a major restructuring within the company, or is everything going to stay the same, just with fewer people?

To answer your question, wait for it.......more layoffs. Frequent layoffs maximize non-productivity. We layoff folks, spread their workloads with little transition and try to reorganize work. Before people (who are already overwhelmed) can get up to speed, rinse and repeat with more layoffs. Continue process until all productivity is killed. Also, cut almost all automation project funding because that costs money. Just keep dumping manual work on those who remain. But hey, our leadership is getting rich and that is all that matters to them.

All I can say is check out the insider trading for ATT stock. Execs are cashing in millions of stock every year...

You are correct, it will continue all year. It happened last year, it was just quiet. It happened in April of last year, June and October. The thing now is that a 3rd line leaked the memo to the press and there was no hiding it after that. I say good for the leak. If you are in ATO and in project management, get a new role soon!!

Being a legacy Bell employee, I have never seen so many reorganizations since SBC acquired BellSouth back in 2007. It is as if they want re-orgs every year and in between them surplus events. If the last five or ten re-orgs haven't made a great success and surplussing all of your craft and managers isn't getting the stock price up and debt down then maybe it is the leadership that is the problem as it is them that are making the [bad] business decisions.

Likely followed by fresh lay-off notifications end of April.
