Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You may be in danger if...

  • If everyone in your group sees you as lazy.

  • If you never volunteer to do extra projects.

  • If you live less than 30 minutes away and you are always late.

  • If you are the first one to complain about PTO.

  • If you treat low priority jobs higher than high severity jobs.

  • If you don't pick up your coworkers when they are on PTO or sick leave.

  • If you always have an excuse why you can not drop what you are doing for something more important.

  • If you never are late for company fun events.

  • If people complain about you countless times.

In my group at least, the poor performers are long gone. That was low hanging fruit. We're now letting good performers go.

Anyone who believes this is stupid. AT&T got rid of all dead wood about 10 years ago. Since then, nothing but good people let go, because the business is in a decidedly decline accelerated by huge strategic errors (T-Mobile purchase failure costing $4B, DirecTV paid way too much for dying business, and now Warner brothers with a decaying library of content).... Yet, the same executives who made these bad decisions, are still in charge. We are following GE's lead. Once great, down to near nothing.

You may be in trouble because you do not live near a collaoration zone

Or like you you can’t be bothered to read up on the topic you speak of. The names were picked by an outside firm. Your peers and managers did not have input.
