Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What keeps you going?

There's is a lot of anxiousness, bad energy and company bashing on this forum right now, so to move in another direction, could you share with us what got you working in this firm and what keeps you going, and still working here?

For me, it was and still is the money, and i still like what i do, but this uncertainty drives me crazy.

I started at the company years ago going into a different area of work. I liked the idea of getting out of tech spt and the money was good. The people I worked with were great and I've made lots of life long friends. Over the past 10yrs I've had to live with uncertainty of job security. Doesn't matter what I do or how well I do it. Way high up they do some data gathering and WHACK lots of good people are gone. This new direction seems to indicate all of us will be gone soon. Hard to believe that this is legal. An American Company whacks all it's U.S. based employees and replaces them with people from other countries who are here on a H1B Visa or are located offshore. Sad state of affairs.

And.....Don'te ever believe those Mgt people who point at Union people or Union people who point at Mgt people. All of us are getting whacked by some upper Exec decision so it seems to the stock mkt that decisions are being made to save money. Love thy neighbor and don't trust Execs.

When they do.....and they will force me out, I'm going to drop my home phone line, take all 4 cell phones and head to another company. Don't care what it costs.....I won't give any of my business to AT&T.

The only thing that keeps me here is the paycheck. As our former BellSouth President once said, if you want loyalty, get a dog
