I know I’m safe (at least this round). For those who aren’t and believe they’ll be targeted, what do you plan on doing?

I got laid of last year after 11 years and it was honestly the best thing that ever happened to me. I started AT&T straight out of high school and didn’t have anything other than a HS Diploma so it was scary at first but after working a few decent gigs and trying to find my next career I was able to land at a great company in a lay-off proof industry making more than I was at AT&T. With constant opportunities to grow and do different things. I’m just putting this out there because a lot of ppl including myself thought it was the end of the world after being let go from AT&T but that’s definitely not the case, it was a blessing in disguise for me.
I am waiting for my last day on Feb 12th. I was less than a year from MODIFIED rule of 75 and yes, that does not matter. No Collaboration Zone, NO Satelite zone, NO jobs in Career Path. Sounds like Monday will be another group hopelessly looking in for jobs that aren't there. It took about 2 weeks to accept that the AT&T train has left the station. Dont take it personal...use it as an opportunity to decide what YOU want to do instead of what you are being told to do. Have a peaceful transistion to WHAT IS NEXT as your nightmare is over. To those left behind, I wish you best of luck. I walk out with my head high....I AM READY to move on.
The very first thing I'll be doing, like the same day, is calling in to cancel Directv, Digital Life and starting to look into switching our few cell lines to a cheaper carrier. Not out of spite, but when discount go away those bills will likely come up to close to $600-700 per month, and we'll need to save where ever we can.
Then refresh my resume and just start applying for jobs, it's not the end of the world.
Realistically, if I’m told I’m out, I’ll feel a sense of relief briefly. Then the reality of that will sink in and I’ll be stressed in a different way. Looking for a new job.
If I’m told I’m safe, I’ll have a sense of dread knowing what all we are expected to do this year. It’s been a terrible existence in our group since the last reorg. Then I’ll continue on with my job search anyways, but at least I won’t be as stressed about it.

Downsize to a lake house and drink wine on my dock in the middle of nowhere for a while and then try to come back as a contractor if possible.
One month of sorting my house and health out then hit the pavement looking for a new job. I will
have enough $ to last about 13 months if I am careful with no job OR take a lower paying job and stretch out the hunt/get other skills.

@gci, if you receive a severance pkg, you may have to wait a period of time before re -entering as a contractor for that same company. When I was canned two years ago, my return (if I wanted it) was based on the six months severance....in other words, if gone in March, you would be back in August.
Ask HR if you can trust them for a straight answer...good luck
Either way I'm getting blasted Monday night. I need the release after the stress. Either in celebration of surviving another quarter or in dread of having to rethink my family's future. I have 2 kids in high school, a wife who doesn't work, and medical issues galore that run the gamut for the 4 of us. Anyone else hit their annual deductible already? I don't know what we will do if I lose this job, but it will be devastating. F--- this company and the sh-- they put their employees through!

After stripping off my company issued uniform and dancing buck naked in the parking lot, I'll call the wife to pick me up and we'll go to Mammoth to ski for a week.
