FTEs are always the first to know/get let go. Is there any word on how heavily contractors for companies like KForce will be affected? Is there a timeline yet?

@1wvl is ATO going all Tech M or is this across the company? There are dozens of contracting companies that AT&T uses?
Everyone is replaceable by a Tech Mahindra contractor. If you are a non-TM contractor, you will be cut loose very soon
It depends on what the contractor does - over in wireless, the build plan can speed up or slow down based on the capital budget, so design can contract out work during busy years, then easily cut back when it slows down, compared to performance and operation side where the workload is consistent with the network size. And contractors are not included in the employee headcount, so it's pretty much a certainty that FTE's will continue to be surplussed to reach the Workforce 2020 reduction target.
Sounds about right. I'm a contractor and I have an FTE counterpart who works a similar role. I'm worried that they'll cut me and just overload the FTE with my work. There were cuts last year and my team adjusted to a new heavier workload, so there's really no reason not to cut a few of us (the few remaining contractors on the team) and load everyone else up.
Contractors have already been cut. And more are being cut in February. I’m in ATO.
Many contractors have been cut in the past year & I hear that no SOWs will be renewed or the few that will be will only be for a few months.
Who cares, it's a sinking ship.
"Generally contractors get cut first because there are no legal entanglements to cutting them, there was a pretty big cutting of ATO contractors back in December actually." - Not always, because contractor expenses are a different part of the balance sheet - e.g. employee benefits & pension obligations, charge against operating expense (O&M) vs capital expense (buildout), etc.
That’s the worst part of our organization. Contractors are never sent and employees are always at stake. Never seen that at any other organization where contractor are more safe than employees.
